Developed at the Universität der Künste (UdK) stone workshop under the guidance of Axel Haagen, this work grows from a hands-on dialogue with material and space, carving oolitic limestone from Rüdersdorf. Through an intuitive process, a horse bust slowly emerges from the block, guided by the stone’s inner tensions, veins, and resistances.

The sculpture leans into a raw, listening closely to the material and sensing the stone as a transmitting membrane. Yet the process extends beyond the carved form: the surrounding dust and fragments are gathered and ground into fine powder, turning residue into pigment. Sculpture and painting fold into a single material cycle—where the stone dissolves only to continue its presence on another surface.
